Learn over Lunch (LoL): “The Power of Empathy” at MFM HQ

Group HR organised a Caring and Connected themed Learn-over-Lunch (LoL) session titled The Power of Empathy. This session received a heart-warming response of 57 participants, of which 44 participants were from various departments in MFM HQ. Another 13 participants were our HR colleagues from Lumut, Sitiawan and Pasir Gudang who participated virtually. This session was conducted by our Caring & Connected Counsellors, Kar Yan and Derrick. From the onset of the session, we were introduced to the difference between empathy and sympathy. Whilst there is a minor difference between empathising and sympathising, it has a different impact on the person requiring support. We learned the guiding principles of 3-Ls (Look-Listen-Link) support model in order to empathize with the person seeking support effectively. While we learn to help others, we can help ourselves too.
